I didn’t know what I was expecting for a restaurant by Duolingo, but it’s actually REALLY GOOD!! Vibes are great, the place is beautiful, and (more importantly) the food is VERY tasty. I can’t speak to the authenticity, but everything we got was delicious. The drinks are quite nice as well. One of my favourite things on the menu is the flan. I’m usually not a flan person, but I would drive back to Pittsburgh for this flan :D

After months of coming past Duo's, we finally were able to make an evening for it. We came early on a Thursday and the restaurant was fairly empty, but filled rather quickly as we ate. We were sat by a really lovely and energetic host, and were pleased to find such a beautiful space. The menu is short and simple to understand. To drink, we had the sangari sour, and la dolce vita, both of which were absolutely delicious. I love the sliders on the menu that indicate how adventurous/comforting and boozy/refreshing it is, it was such a fun way to categorize the drinks and really helped us choose. The whole drinks menu was so fun to peruse. I was shocked at the breadth of agave drinks and the dedication to Mexican owned and produced products, it really shows how much of a labor of love this menu is. To start, we got the queso fundido to start. Unfortunately, this was the one disappointing part of the meal. The cheese congealed into one mass and had to be cut apart. It was not very appetizing, and we did not eat much of it. However, the chips were incredibly delicious, they were like homemade Fritos in the best way. It seemed like the chicharrones were the way to go, four other tables got themselves while we were sitting there. For entrees, I got the goat birria. I cannot put into words how good this dish was. The corn tortillas were the best I've ever had. The beans were so incredible. All the toppings were perfect. The meat and the consomme was just purely delicious. I will struggle to try other things on the menu just because this dish was so delicious. I only wish I could have had more tortillas, when I finished my stack I still had a lot of meat, but I wasn't complaining about eating it with a fork. If you want something delicious and maybe outside of your comfort zone, please get this dish. I have to admit I didn't try the enchiladas because I was entranced with my dish, but they were enjoyed by my comrade. For dessert, we got the churro, which was excellent. Warm, crispy outside covered in sugar, soft pillowy inside. The chocolate was kind of boozy, which I enjoyed. It was perfect to split between three people. Overall, Duo's was such a nice meal, far nicer than I expected. This was an incredibly intentional and curated experience that I never would have expected. I will be returning to experience more of the menu, and I greatly look forward to it.

Duo’s was awesome! For food, I had the guacamole, fish tacos and the churro for dessert. To drink, I had agua fresco, mango flavor. Everything was delicious! I also want to highlight the service. Our waitress, Phoebe, was amazing. She told us about all the ingredients the restaurant brought in directly from Mexico. We were never without water, which I always appreciate. She also boxed up our leftovers for us in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend Duo’s for a meal out!

Upscale mexican restaurant and had some very unique dishes that surprised me. The tamales dish as a dessert was probably the best one. It had a very nice warm slightly bitter taste and was served with whipped corn. The combo was truly out of this world. Definitely worth a visit with someone special.

Had such a great experience at Duo’s - the service is amazing, the ambience is great, and the food is fantastic! We didn’t have reservations for the night, but got seated at the full-service bar. The guacamole y totopos were great - the chips can be refilled which was great since the portion of guacamole was gigantic. We ordered the zanahorias (carrots) which were sooooo yummy - the carrots are so sweet and the beans gave it great balance. We also got the tacos estilo baja with the oyster mushrooms (mayo omitted) which were also very delicious. With the addition of refried beans on the side, this was a great meal for two of us! The mango agua fresca was also great! Appreciated the many vegan options, which are clearly marked on the menu, as well as other dishes that can be modified to be vegan. The service here was also very attentive and the staff gave great vegan recommendations! I’d highly recommend checking out Duo’s for a great dining experience! Cheers to the staff for the great service as well. We’ll definitely be back!

How on earth have I been sleeping on the best Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh?? Run, don’t walk to Duo’s. Chef is from El Salvador and has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens. The creativity and deliciousness of the menu is astounding. I’ll be back a lot.

I’ve been using Duolingo for years so imagine my surprise when I was invited to eat at the cafe with my aunt... the goat birria is a 10/10! The self construction makes me even happier. The horchata was also amazing! The service was really nice. You have to try it out! The guacamole was a nice surprise! We added extra lime and it kicked it off

First, definitely ask for Megan. She had wonderful recommendations and described the food in wonderful detail. Next, the FOOD! Everything we had was fabulous. The tostada is a great introduction to their housemade tortillas and guacamole with a lovely thin slice of Ahi Tuna and sesame. It's extremely fresh and a must try. The chicarrones are also housemade and come out WARM. The berries is wholly indescribable, like a warm hug. It has the perfect amount of bite and smokiness. If you're willing to experience goat, get it here as it showcases all of its strength. Even the side of black beans usually a forgotten accoutrement, was delicious with pickled red onions. The accompanying salsa added heat and enhanced flavor. I did run of tortillas long before I ran out of birria, but that didn't dampen my enjoyment. The kanpachi is good, but the pickled jicama on the side is the real star. You must try the tamal de cacao. The tamal is masa and cocoa with whipped cream infused with corn, it is a corn desert but in the best way possible. Also the aguafresca(hibcusus pineapple) was extremely refreshing. The flavors melded, but it wasn't too sweet. The margaritas were also good, with the perfect ratio of tequila.
